It has been a huge challenge keeping the sales and bookings going during the lockdown period, especially with all travel and local restrictions in different locations in Wales and England. The rough times have made us who we are today, it was not easy yet we were able to continue to host guests during the pandemic.
The secret to our bookings success is told by our Bookings Manager Steph Dudley.
"We were really unsure of what our occupancy was going to look like when the 2nd lockdown was announced, especially with the different tiers of lockdown throughout England. This was a new level of complexity we hadn’t experienced, but we managed it well with making sure we did extra checks on the guests who were booking making sure we were adhering to guidelines. We had worked well during the 1st lockdown focusing on the essential and key workers who were still working and keeping the country moving. So we knew having our amazing contacts with our existing guests was key and searching for new guests was the main priority….queue lot’s of calling to local councils, building sites, local hospitals and other key infrastructure. Making connections with all our guests was key to return bookings especially the bookings from the OTAS, turning them into direct bookers. Posts on social media groups such as Contractors/Film Crew Accommodation Groups on Facebook/Instagram and sharing posts on Linked In so the world could see we were open and welcoming key and essential workers was powerful…..Never underestimate the power of social media. Michelle, Sarah and myself have worked in hospitality for over 40 years combined but this last year has been completely unique….but we love what we do and we adapt where needed."
