Safe Travel Tips and Reminders During Covid-19

While several regulations are still in effect, transportation is starting to increase gradually. People who have been in lockdown for months are ready to see something other than a screen and help improve the economy.

When we start to explore the world again, we must be extremely vigilant to ensure our family is healthy and safe from the virus

Here are a few tips to consider before travelling during the Covid-19 Pandemic

Plan your route

Be sure your vehicle is in the best condition before departure, we recommend getting it serviced or checked before you travel. Chart the routes you’re going to take, and the places you’re going to drive, being mindful of any applicable travel advisories.

Pack up and sanitise your belongings

After planning your route, make sure you have packed the necessary supplies. These include items for keeping hands and surfaces clean and sanitised such as:

  • Alcohol-based hand sanitiser (at least 60% alcohol)

  • Disinfectant wipes (at least 70% alcohol) for surfaces

  • Disposable gloves and extra masks

Remember your medicine and first aid kit in case of an emergency.

Plan your stay, lodging or hotel

Double-check your chosen accommodation by checking their website and ensuring that they are following safety guidelines and practicing enhanced cleaning measures for a healthy and safe holiday getaway. Serviced accommodation and self-contained properties are considered one of the safest during the pandemic as there is limited contact and face-to-face interaction with other guests.

Practice contactless or cashless payment

To limit close contact with other people, we recommend paying via digital payment or card, this way you can sanitise your card after use and eliminate cash handling as the virus may be present on notes and coins.

Bring your own food

The safest way to enjoy your holiday is to prepare your own food. If you don’t want to cook, you can use drive-through, delivery and takeout. Be sure to disinfect the containers with disinfecting wipes for your family’s safety.

We hope these tips and reminders will help you to enjoy your travels during these unprecedented times. This year has been an extreme challenge for each and every one of us, let’s live our 2020 to the fullest and embrace #thenewnormal. You can still enjoy the little things in life while staying safe and preventing the spread of the virus.

Enjoy your holiday getaway!
